Please join us on Friday, August 20th from 5-8pm as art and fashion collide at Alice + Olivia (56 Jobs Lane, Southampton). San Francisco-based artist Serena Cole (Triple Base Gallery) has created a brand new body of work that will be on display and we invite you to be among the first to preview the works at a champagne reception this Friday.

Serena Cole’s new series of drawings entitled “The Rapture” investigates the production of fantasy via fashion and advertising. The artist explores our collective psyche as visual consumers and how certain tropes have remained a source of fascination, such as ecstasy, dominance, and sublimity. Cole fetishizes fashion magazine ads that portray these enraptured states, enlarging and painstakingly rendering the images with lush watercolor, gouache and colored pencil — gilding them until they glow like deities.
